I call this blog Recykleren #1, because it is my first official recykleerproject. Recykleren is the Dutch word for the re-use of old clothes to make something new. The dyed shirts in this blog didn't deserve it to be called a recykleerproject. This first recykleerproject started as a tunic size 16/18 and ended up as a shirt size 12.
Dit was eigenlijk een makkelijke aanpassing; ik kon de halslijn behouden en heb een zelfgetekend patroon voor een shirtje met mouwen op het tuniek gelegd en overgetekend. Naaien, boorden omzomen en klaar!
This was an easy adjustment; I kept the neckline intact, and used a self-drawn pattern for a shirt with sleeves. I placed this pattern on the tunic, drew, sewed, fringed the hem, and finished!
Leuk stofje, he? Ik heb het tuniek gekocht in de kringloopwinkel. Het is een dunne katoen en voelt heerlijk zacht aan. Door het elastiek vlak onder de borst leende deze kringloopvondst zich voor een simpel shirtje zonder nepen.
Een leerpuntje voor mijzelf, als beginnend naaister, is dat ik mijn zelfgetekende patroon prima voor katoen kan gebruiken, maar dat ik het shirt dan iets uit moet laten lopen aan de onderkant. Voor tricot maakt dit niet zo veel uit, omdat dat voldoende mee rekt.
Nice fabric, isn't it? I bought the tunic in the thrift store. It's a thin cotton and is very soft. There's some elastic just below the bust, which allows this thirft store purchase to be used for a simple shirt without bust darts.
A little lesson for me, as a sewing newby, is that I can use my self-drawn pattern for cotton, but I have to let the shirt flare out a little at the bottom. This isn't the case when I use tricot, because it stretches enough.
